The Turkish Flag was hoisted with a ceremony on the Multi-Purpose Amphibious Ship LHD Anadolu, which will be the largest ship of our Navy with a length of 232 meters and a displacement of 27,000 tons, the construction of which began on April 17, 2016, and is planned to enter service in December 2022.
With the hoisting of flag, LHD Anadolu will make its maiden voyage on 07 March 2022 and port acceptance tests will begin.
Anadolu Multi-Purpose Amphibious Assault Ship, which was built with a domestic contribution rate of 68 percent under the Multi-Purpose Amphibious Assault Ship Project, the contract of which was signed between the Presidency of Defense Industries and SEDEF Gemi İnşaat A.Ş. on June 1, 2015, and is expected to be temporarily delivered to the Naval Forces in 2022. The first technical cruise test is expected to be held on March 7, 2022, if the ongoing test works are completed, and the technical cruise test is expected to take approximately 1 week.
The Presidency of Defense Industries shared a post on the TCG Anadolu ship on its social media account.
In the post, which stated that the ship, whose construction has been completed, is preparing to go on its first technical cruise, “Anatolia, where we will then pass the acceptance tests, will strengthen our navy with our Bayraktar TB3 SİHAs. Our goal for the survival of a great and powerful Turkey is a fully independent defense industry.”
Within the scope of the project, port acceptance tests of the ship will begin. This will be followed by cruise tests with various land, air, and sea vehicles.
TCG Anadolu, which is targeted for delivery at the end of this year, will be an important force for the Turkish navy with the armed unmanned aerial vehicles (SİHA) to be deployed on it. The ship has the distinction of being Turkey’s largest military ship.
