A Turkish Navy corvette paid a three-day visit to the Bangladeshi port city of Chittagong while en route for a visit to Japan, the Turkish National Defense Ministry said on Friday.
“The TCG Kınalıada visited Chittagong Port on May 7-9, 2024. Our ship was welcomed at the port by the Bangladesh Navy with a chimariva ceremony,” the Turkish National Defense Ministry said on X.
The ministry also noted that the TCG Kinaliada’s crew visited local command centers, the commander of the Chittagong naval area, and Chittagong War Cemetery during their stay.
“Our Dhaka ambassador, mine fleet commander, Dhaka military attache, TCG Kınalıada commander and ship personnel attended a reception hosted by the Chattogram Naval Area Commander,” it added.
According to the statement, the Turkish side hosted another reception aboard the ship, with attendees including several Bangladeshi commanders, as well as military and civilian officials, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency staff, and representatives from Turkish defense industry companies.
