Østerfjord, designed by Marin Teknikk, was built as a unique ship in her field, where the latest solutions and technologies are gathered together in terms of the propulsion system, energy production, fishing efficiency, crew safety, and comfort. Østerfjord, a hybrid ship with a diesel-mechanical, diesel-electric and pure electric propulsion system, provides high energy efficiency.
The vessel is one of the first purpose-built vessels of this type in the world, combining two different fishing methods, Danish Seining and Longlining, as well as an innovative propulsion system. Equipped with a 2560 kW Bergen Diesel main engine, Yanmar Generators, and a 500 kW battery system, the ship also has a “moonpool” that will allow fishing even in bad weather conditions.
Østerfjord, with a length of 67 meters and a width of 14.6 meters, the world’s largest Longliner and Danish Seiner fishing vessel, is equipped with an advanced fish processing factory. Comfortable living spaces were designed for the crew of 23 on board.
