The MPV 4600 multipurpose tug, built by Uzmar Shipyard for Smit Lamnalco Singapore, has been launched with a ceremony.
Eng. A. Noyan Altuğ, Chairman of the Board of Uzmar, stated that they aimed for good engineering and healthy cooperation in this special project, and said, “We thank our team and partner in this project that started with a white paper.”
Stating that the MPV 4600 is a difficult project under pandemic conditions, Uzmar Honorary President Captain Kaan Altuğ said, “All our friends worked devotedly. Smith Lamnalco was our first international client. Now they continue their work under Boskalis. They say they are very satisfied with the service they received from us. I’m sure this relationship will continue.”
Smit Lamnalco CFO Wouter Neiuwveld thanked the employees of Uzmar Shipyard by stating that the projects are progressing very well despite the pandemic conditions.
ROV operations can also be performed
The 46.20 meters long MPV 4600 Multi-Purpose Tug, designed by OSD IMT Ship Design & Marine Consultancy, has a speed of 13.5 knots. The tug, certified by Bureau Veritas, has a large working area of 185 m². Equipped with a 6.5 ton @ 18.5-meter offshore crane, the tug will also be used to facilitate cargo voyages, towing operations, dive support, and ROV operations.
A total of four tugs
A contract was signed between Uzmar Shipyard and Smit Lamnalco Singapore for three newly built 42 meters ASD RAstar 4200 Class terminal/escort tugs and one newly built MPV 4600 multipurpose tug.
