Türkiye, Istanbul Tuzla-based boat builder Yonca Shipyard has announced the launch of Mishi Yachts, including the first 26.82-metre cruising sloop Mishi 88. The brand is aimed at producing modern sailing yachts, with the first model already in the water.
Founded in 1986, Yonca Shipyard specialises in the production of defence and law enforcement vessels, but is looking to expand into the leisure marine market. The current facility is capable of producing vessels up to 48 metres, with the possibility of 20 naval and 20 leisure yachts being built each year.
“Yonca is exceedingly well-known in defence and as the skilled builder behind other yachting brands,” said Chairman and founder Şakir Yılmaztürk. “But we are branching out in the leisure sector. We are taking the skills and capabilities honed over 36 years and bringing it to superyachting in a new venture we have named Mishi Yachts.”
Yonca is able to build in steel, aluminium and even wood and specialises in high-speed composite vessels, capable of speeds from 40 to 80 knots. The debut designs of Mishi Yachts include the launched 26.82-metre cruising sloop Mishi 88 and the 31-metre Mishi 102 yacht.
Launched in 2019, the Mishi 88 is the first yacht in the series and is characterised by elegant lines from Osman Tanju Kalaycıoğlu and Özgür Terzioğlu of Taka Yacht, with interior design by Aylin Örs of ORS Yacht Design. Composed from carbon composite, the Mishi 88 is RINA classified, with an interior volume of 71 GT.
She is able to sleep up to six guests, as well as a crew across two cabins. Her aft staterooms can be converted from singles to a family suite, while her midship stateroom features a bunk bed and can be transformed into an office.
Her lounge area includes fixed and opening L-shaped seating groups, with convertible table to accommodate up to eight guests. The 4.5 square-metre galley onboard the Mishi 88 yacht is found in the saloon area, which creates a spacious and open area of seven-metres.
In terms of performance, the Mishi 88 yacht can reach a top speed of 11.5 knots, with a cruising speed of eight knots. She also boasts an impressive swim platform that is able to accommodate a 3.5-metre inflatable tender.
The yard is well used to working with renowned naval architects and designers, as well as using in-house and third-party expertise. As a result, Yonca is able to tackle exotic marbles, valuable leathers and other rare materials.
“We are as excited by every new project today as we were when we first launched in 1986,” said Yılmaztürk. “Our reputation rests on our skill with composite work, as well as our ability to design and engineer complex, demanding projects and deliver them on time and on budget. I believe that it is time to bring those skills to a wider market and capture the growth that is our due.”
