The chemical tanker Atlantis Antibes, owned by Istanbul-based Armona Shipping, was on its way to Barcelona on July 10, 2024, when it received a distress call from the Mediterranean and took part in the rescue operation.
The Atlantis Antibes crew came to the rescue of the Spanish-flagged MRCC Alberia boat carrying irregular immigrants, which was in danger of sinking, and took the situation under control until the Spanish SAR team arrived.
The crew coordinated with the rescue team and continued their journey after ensuring that all individuals on the boat were rescued safely.
The Spanish Maritime and Safety Agency sent a letter to Armona Maritime and thanked the captain and crew for their assistance in the rescue operation.
