Istanbul-based Aegean Yacht, which performed at the Cannes Yachting Festival this year, has entered into a new collaboration with Italian yacht designer Gian Paolo Nari. The two new 43.4-meter motor yachts, Phobos and Diemos, built as part of the partnership, were designed with Gian Paolo Nari’s new concept.
Phobos, named after one of Mars’ moons to hint at its long-range travel potential, was designed as an exploration yacht, while Deimos, which stands out with its white exterior, was designed with a more elegant navetta style. Both yachts are built on the same building platform, have similar interior layouts, and feature a rear garage with side-door launch capability.
Phobos has two open-air garages, one at the stern for storing Jet Skis and a rescue boat, and the other in the forward cockpit, which can accommodate a tender up to six metres long and various other water toys.
The yacht, which has a 70 square metre sun deck, includes a relaxation area, sunbathing area, Jacuzzi and a wet bar.
Deimos has a second pool on the aft side of the main deck and a sunbathing area overlooking the beach area at the stern. The yacht has accommodation for up to four cabins, two guest cabins and two VIP suites on the lower deck.
Deimos, which can accommodate up to 12 guests with an additional guest suite on the upper deck, has a 37 square metre main deck and a 12 square metre terrace.
Gian Paolo Nari explained the design of the new concept, saying, “The initial idea was to create a ship with extraordinary autonomy and a design that maintained clear and recognisable lines while avoiding unnecessary ornamentation. “My focus was on simplicity, linearity and a clean composition that blended horizontal and vertical elements to create a profile that captured the unique signature we aimed to achieve.”
