According to reports in the Ecuadorian press, Roberto Luque, the country’s former Minister of Energy and current Minister of Transport and Public Works, reported that the government rented a 110 megawatt energy ship from Istanbul-based Karpowership against the upcoming electricity crisis.
Stating that the Karpowership has set out and will reach Ecuador in 15 days, Luque said that the ship will initially serve for 18 months, but the Ecuadorian Electricity Corporation (Celec) sees an extension as a possibility.
