The countdown has begun for PNS BADR, PNMILGEM’s 3rd ship, from the ship built for Pakistan within the scope of PNMİLGEM, the biggest export project realized by the Turkish defense industry in a single item.
PNS BADR, whose construction continues at full speed in Karachi, was laid on the sled at the Karachi Shipyard with a ceremony held on October 25, 2020. A new statement was made about the latest status of the ship.
Emre Koray Gençsoy, Director of the ASFAT Naval Platforms, announced on social media that the 3rd ship of the PNMILGEM project, BADR, will be launched soon.
The statement said: “We are at the final turn for the landing on the planned date. The countdown has begun for PNS BADR, the 3rd ship of PNMILGEM. Thanks to the KS&EW personnel who did not give up despite all the difficulties, and to our teammates who fought against those who constantly told us how it could not be done at every stage of production, proceeded on the planned path, and showed practically how it could be done.”
Pakistan has ordered corvettes built within the scope of the Milgem project. The PN Milgem project emerged by making changes in the ship design of the Milgems ordered by Pakistan, according to the wishes of the Pakistani Navy.
It was announced that in PNMILGEMs, 2x 6-cell Surface-to-Air Guided Missile System, 2x 3-Launcher Surface-to-Surface Guided Missile System, 76 mm Main Battery Gun, Torpedo Launching System, Close Air Defense System, 2x 25 mm Remote Controlled Stabilized Gun System (STOP), Hull Mounted Sonar, Torpedo Jamming / Deception System (TKAS) such systems would be established.
A contract was signed between ASFAT and the Pakistan Navy within the scope of the “PN MİLGEM Project” in June 2020 and started works.
The National Ship (MİLGEM) Project includes the production of four MİLGEM ADA Class Corvettes for the Pakistan Navy under the main contractor of ASFAT. The production of two corvettes will be carried out at the Istanbul Shipyard Command, while the production of the other two will be carried out in Pakistan’s Karachi Shipyard.
