Speaking at the İMEAK Chamber of Shipping (DTO) September 2024 Assembly Meeting, Board Chairman Tamer Kıran reminded that one of the founding partners of Zeytinburnu Zeyport Port is the chamber and requested authorization from the assembly to purchase the shares of Motor Ship Owners’ Cooperative (MGAK) and Demirören Holding (DH) from other partners.

Currently, DTO has 23 percent, İDO Deniz Otobüsleri San. Tic. Speaking about the port, where A.Ş. holds 20 percent, Turkish Maritime Education Foundation (TÜDEV) 7 percent, MGAK 15 percent, Zeytinburnu Municipality 15 percent, Donatan Port Operation and Investment 15 percent and DH 5 percent shares, Kıran said that İDO also has the right to buy the shares and that this will affect the final result.
A profitable port
Kıran stated that they wanted to buy the shares of MGAK and DH as a chamber – upon the request – and that the monetary equivalent of this was 7.5 and 2.5 million dollars, respectively, and that İMEAK DTO Vice President Recep Düzgit was still the chairman of Zeyport’s board of directors, and that the company’s EBITDA (profit before interest, depreciation and tax) for 2023 was 3 million 995 thousand dollars and its value was 53 million 186 thousand dollars.
In the voting, full authority was given to the İMEAK DTO management to purchase the shares.
