The foundations of Türk Loydu were laid on February 27, 1962, by a group of idealistic naval engineers in a small room of the Galata Passenger Hall, belonging to the Chamber of Ship Engineers.
Zeyyat Parlar, who is The Chairman of the Standing Committee, in his historic speech at the General Assembly Meeting 60 years ago, based the establishment of Türk Loydu on two grounds, one of them is technique and science, the other is honesty and impartiality. Turkey’s first and only National Class Society has achieved many important successes over the years by continuing to work uninterruptedly with the determination and determination of the first day in the adventure that it started in the light of these principles.
Certainly, this journey full of achievements has not been easy. Türk Loydu took firm steps, knowing that the path to be taken always requires courage, passion, and perseverance, and always putting its goals at the top. Although the establishment process was painful and full of various obstacles, it succeeded in increasing its activities by overcoming the most fundamental obstacle, gaining the status of “National recognized class institution” in 1981. At the point it has reached today, it has become a national organization that provides the controls of giant projects.

In the Industry Sector, it provided conformity assessment services in many areas from the world’s most advanced nuclear power plants to the world’s longest suspension bridges. Taking part in many mega projects of Turkey, added a new one to pride projects every day, and with expert staff, took care to act with a sense of duty at all times under all circumstances.

60th Anniversary Message from Cem Melikoğlu, Chairman of the Board of Türk Loydu Foundation
I am proud to describe Türk Loydu as a “Unique national organization” with a strong presence “in the region and the sector” on the 60th anniversary of its establishment. I believe that the biggest lesson we can take from the past is to dream big first. Our reputable founders established Türk Loydu with national feelings, great expectations, and dreams. With the work we have done so far, we have tried to be worthy of the trust of our main founder, the Chamber of Ship Engineers, and valuable non-governmental organizations of our maritime and industrial sectors. Today we have turned dreams into goals, viable strategies, and reality.
I see the 60th anniversary as an incredible achievement and legacy that should be celebrated. I can proudly say that we are the greatest example of what a national organization can achieve by working. Undoubtedly, we have come a long and successful way. We are proud of our past. However, we will continue to strive with all our strength to take part in larger projects that are forward-looking, to raise Türk Loydu to the highest levels, and to take it further.
We would like to thank our managers and colleagues for their admirable performance in helping Türk Loydu reach these days. I am proud of your professionalism, dedication, courage, and patience in the face of challenges and innovations. I would also like to thank all our sector stakeholders with whom we are in cooperation and solidarity, and wish to walk together in the years in which we will achieve many good works.
As Türk Loydu, with 60 years of trust and the words of our Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, “Work together not for yourself, but for the nation, you belong to. This is the highest of works.” Based on that words, we will strive with all our efforts to fulfill our responsibilities and continue to do works that add value to our country and the world!
