Turkey’s largest warship, “TCG Anadolu”, which is still under construction at Sedef Shipyard, went on a short trial cruise for the first time. TCG Anadolu, towed by two tugs, returned to the shipyard. TCG Anadolu, whose radars are seen to be installed, will start equipping operations when its operations are completed at Sedef Shipyard.
To be delivered this year
İsmail Demir, President of Defense Industries, said that the finishing works of TCG Anadolu LHD, which will be delivered to the Naval Forces Command in 2022, are left and that the ship will be delivered by the end of 2022.
Demir said, “We asked if we could put UAVs and SİHAs on this platform next to the helicopters. We see that this can happen. This idea made a huge impact around the world. When we talked to various countries, we saw that there are quite a few buyers. There are very few aircraft carriers in the world. When you put a SİHA on it, the power and operational capability it will bring will be much different.”
Spain shows interest
Demir stated that Spain also showed great interest in this new concept. “They offered to work together. Maybe it can be a joint product of the two countries”
He stated that TCG Anadolu will also house a fully equipped hospital add that the ship has a locality rate of around 60 percent. “There is only 10 percent left. It can also be used with 90-95% of operational capability. Around 60 percent of domestic”
The production of the TCG Anadolu amphibious assault ship is carried out under the main contractor of Sedef Shipyard and sub-contractor of Spanish Shipyard Navantia as part of the Multi-Purpose Amphibious Assault Ship (LHD) project initiated by the SSB.
TCG Anadolu, which will increase the overseas military operation and humanitarian aid operation capabilities of the Turkish Armed Forces, which is classified by Türk Loydu, has a length of 232 meters and a width of 32 meters.
