The company that will build Malaysia’s LMS Batch II (Littoral Task Ship Group) ship project, which came to the agenda at the end of November 2023 and after it was confirmed that the project would be carried out with Turkey in February 2024 , was announced.
According to the information obtained by HaberDenize.com, Malaysian Defense Minister Seri Khaled Nordin, who made a speech in the Dewan Rakyat, the lower house of the Malaysian Parliament, announced that negotiations have started with STM.
Accordingly, the letter of goodwill sent by Malaysia to STM on February 5, 2024 was responded to by STM three days later, and technical and pricing negotiations officially started. It is stated that the negotiations will be concluded in the middle of 2024 and the construction phase will begin.
STM, ASFAT and DEARSAN companies from Turkey participated in the tender within the scope of Malaysia’s LMS Batch-2 corvette procurement program. Malaysia currently has four LMS Batch 1 ships purchased from China.
