ITU Autonomous Boat Team, the first and only Turkish university team to be entitled to represent Türkiye and which UZMAR is the main sponsor, at the Robotx Maritime Challenge Competition in Sydney, launched its new boat BEE-Ast on Friday, August 26.

After the launching ceremony held in the ITU Pond with the participation of ITU’s Rector İsmail Koyuncu and the officials of the sponsor companies, the Rector tested the BEE-Ast autonomous boat by commanding it.
Noyan Altuğ: “We are pleased to support such a project”
UZMAR’s Chairman of the Board Noyan Altuğ, who could not attend the ceremony due to his busy schedule, stated that they were pleased to support such a project and said, “Our R&D studies on autonomous ship technologies continue rapidly. We aim to make important developments under these headings. As UZMAR, we will continue to support our successful young people working in these fields at our universities while leading progressive projects in the international arena.”
ITUASTEAM is the first and only university team from Türkiye to be eligible to participate in the 2022 Robotx Autonomous Maritime Competition with Bee-Ast, which UZMAR supplies the necessary materials and equipment for the construction of the autonomous vehicle as the main sponsor. The team will represent our country in the races that will be held at Sydney International Boat Racing Center on 11-17 November 2022.

ITUASTeam is a team of students from different engineering disciplines at ITU Faculty of Naval Architecture and Marine Sciences. With its R&D-oriented establishment, it is a team that wants to participate in competitions and fairs in which national and international students participate and succeeds in doing so. Founded in the Faculty of Naval Architecture and Marine Sciences, ITUASTEAM includes members from many engineering branches such as Electricity, Artificial Intelligence, Electronic Communication, Control, Mechanical, Geomatics, and Food Engineering. The team, which aims to enable the vehicles they design and manufacture to fulfill the tasks given completely autonomously without any outside intervention, designs and manufactures domestic and national surface floating vehicles with the support of sponsors as well as its unique opportunities.
