Global Ports Holding (GPH) stated that it operates Bodrum Cruise Port only as a concession holder and that ships or yachts docking at the port are not included in the permit procedures. In the statement made by the company, “This responsibility and decision belong to the Turkish authorities. As the concessionaire, GPH must abide by such a decision as long as it is legal.” The holding announced that they will not be paid any fees or payments due to the superyachts being reserved. The company state, “The reserving does not constitute a violation of sanctions as it takes place outside the UK at a port where GPH does not have the authority to refuse the berthing of a ship or yacht.” In the news of the British Financial Times newspaper, he said that allowing the port operators of Global Ports Holding to anchor yachts suspected of belonging to Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich may mean that the UK will circumvent sanctions.
