Control from air and sea
The Ministry of National Defense shared the images of the Naval Forces Command’s measures against the drifting mine threat in the Black Sea. According to the post on the Ministry’s social media account, maritime minesweepers and patrol ships provide support to the airborne mine surveillance activities in the Western Black Sea region by maritime patrol aircraft, helicopters, and UAVs.
SAS is destroying
Engin and Aydın class mine-hunting ships undertake important tasks in combating mines with their sonar systems and unmanned underwater vehicles, while a light autonomous underwater device is used in the detection of mines. After the mine is detected, it is the turn of the SAS teams for the destruction mission. According to the characteristics of the area where the mine was detected, the teams, which are disembarked from the ship or helicopter, first ensure safety. After the security of the area, SAS teams destroy the mines.
On the other hand, necessary measures continue to be taken by the Naval Forces Command in coordination with all relevant institutions and organizations, including the Romanian and Bulgarian Naval Forces.
