Crude oil, which reaches the Haydar Aliyev Marine Terminal in Adana’s Ceyhan district, is shipped from there to the world market by tankers.
The 5,000th tanker shipment was carried out by BOTAŞ International, which operates the Turkish section of the BTC line, from the terminal, which is the last stop of the pipeline, which is called the “energy project of the century” and was officially opened in 2006.
According to BOTAŞ International and BTC data, 3 billion 813 million barrels of crude oil have been delivered to the world market by tankers since June 2, 2006.

Nadim Ekiz, the General Manager of BOTAŞ International, which operates the Turkish side of the BTC Crude Oil Pipeline, said that as BOTAŞ International, one of the distinguished institutions of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, they are proud of carrying out the 5,000th tanker loading.
Emphasizing that the BTC Crude Oil Pipeline has made Turkey one of the important actors in the East-West energy corridor, Ekiz said, “Our country has undersigned important projects in the field of energy under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. As BOTAŞ International, we spend all our energies to achieve the 2023 targets set by our President. BTC Crude Oil Pipeline
BOTAŞ International was founded by BOTAŞ on July 3, 1996, to participate in the activities of countries and multinational companies that have a say in oil and natural gas projects, and was commissioned to operate BTC in 2001.
In BTC, which started to load crude oil to tankers from Ceyhan Marine Terminal on June 2, 2006, the oil extracted from the Caspian Sea is transported to the marine terminal in Ceyhan via Georgia via the pipeline, and from there to the world markets by tankers. The line, which is 1776 kilometers long, has a daily oil carrying capacity of 1 million barrels and 50 million tons of oil per year.
Along the Turkish section of the line, there are 4 pumping stations in Ardahan, Erzurum, Erzincan, and Sivas, 2 pressure regulation stations, and 52 block valve stations in Kars and Kahramanmaraş.
From the Ceyhan Marine Terminal, there are 7 oil tanks, each with a diameter of 100 meters, a height of 20 meters, and a storage capacity of one million barrels, a control room, a measuring station, and pier loading facilities.
