The steel cutting ceremony for the floating dock construction that Kuzey Star Shipyard will build with the ship operator Atomflot, which operates as a branch of Rosatom in Russia, was held at Kuzey Star Shipyard on December 7, 2021. Atomflot, Russian Maritime Registry (RMRS) and Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB) and Kuzey Star Shipyard officials attended to steel cutting ceremony for the floating dock construction.
Including the delivery of the floating dock to be built by Kuzey Star Shipyard, it will be completed in a total of 29 months and will be served in Murmansk Port.
The floating dock, which is planned to serve with a carrying capacity of approximately 30 thousand tons and a crew of 30, will accompany the icebreakers transporting crude hydrocarbons in Arctic conditions throughout the year.
According to the agreement, the floating dock will have a lifting capacity of 30 thousand tons, 220 meters long and 48 meters wide. The floating dock, which will have a length of at least 200 meters and a pontoon height of 6 meters along the slipway deck, depending on the diesel fuel and drinking water stocks, wastewater and domestic water collection capacity, will be able to serve 30 people at the same time, without stepping on the land, for 7 days.
The floating dock will accompany icebreakers transporting crude hydrocarbons in Arctic conditions throughout the year.
