Havila Castor, built by Tersan Shipyard for the Norwegian company Havila Kystruten, has started sea trials. Havila Castor, 123 meters long and 22 meters wide will operate on Norway’s Bergen- Kirkenes Historic Coastline.
Havila Castor, which is also the World’s Largest Battery Capacity Ship was built with LNG and battery, as a ship that provides high energy efficiency and meets low emission requirements. It has a battery capacity of 6500 kWh. Thanks to its innovative power generation system and energy-efficient hull design, Havila Castor can cruise continuously for four hours with zero emissions. The ship is charged with hydroelectric power at the quay.
Designed by HAV Ship Design and built under DNV supervision, Havila Castor provides a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions and a 90% reduction in NOx emissions. Tersan Shipyard delivered Havila Capella, the first of the 4-ship series and sister of Havila Castor, to the Norwegian company Havila Kystruten last November.
The third and fourth sister ships, Havila Pollux and Havila Polaris are also under construction at Tersan Shipyard. Tersan Shipyard is also planning to deliver Havila Pollux and Havila Polaris sister ships this year.
