Zaporozhye Bridge construction, which was started 12 years ago in Ukraine Krivaya Buhta and could not be completed, was completed in less than a year with the commissioning of the Turkish flagged giant Zakhariy crane.
As a result of the agreement between Onur İnşaat and Sirius Deniz İnşaat, in January 2021, she moved from Haydarpaşa to Zaporozhye, a subsidiary of Krivaya Buhta. It has a lifting capacity of 800 tons, which was purchased by Oneks Shipping from abroad and transferred to the Türk Loydu class with the Sirius Marine Construction operation and the Turkish flag was hoisted.
The crane, which started working immediately, installed 12 bridge segments weighing 800 tons and 16 temporary bridge piers with an average weight of 560 tons until December 2021. After Zakhariy carried a total load of 19 thousand tons and assembled it, the construction was completed and the bridge was opened to traffic by the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelenskiy. Zakhariy, who completed her duty, started to return to Turkey.
Ideal crane for rivers
The most important feature of Zakhariy, which was built in 2011, is that it can work comfortably in rivers as well as seas. The crane, which has a draft of 1.4 meters at full load, is 13.5 meters at full load. This means that she can easily pass under the bridges built on the rivers at a height of 16 meters as standard. Zakhariy previously worked in the transport of BMF Port Burgas Port cranes in Bulgaria, and Beşiktaş Shipyard’s floating dock crane in Beldeport.
