Royal Caribbean has announced that Icon of the Seas, which will be its largest cruise ship, will begin voyages in 2024. Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, said they’ve raised the bar and include a private water park, as well as 15 restaurants, theaters, and parks.
Royal Caribbean’s new ship Icon of the Seas is said to be the best family vacation, which has 15 restaurants, 7 pools, and the largest water park in the sea. Miami-based Royal Caribbean has announced that its largest vessel, Icon of the Seas, will officially enter service in 2024.
“We took it to a new level”
Icon of the Seas will be able to accommodate 7,600 passengers by filling her maximum capacity on January 28, 2024. Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, said: “With each new ship, we raise the bar in the travel industry while improving what our guests know and love. From the moment they step aboard, every experience has been tailored to give them the best vacation anywhere, on land, and at sea. “With Icon of the Seas, we’ve taken that to a new level and created the ultimate family vacation.
Offers seven-night cruises
When completed, the ship will be 20 decks high, 1200 feet long, and 250,800 gross tons. This floating mini-city is expected to sail year-round and offers seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises out of Miami.
She will be the largest water park in the middle of the sea
One of the most curious possibilities is that the ship will have the largest water park in the sea so far. Pressure Drop, the industry’s first open freefall slide, is a 46-foot high Frightening Bolt, Storm Surge, and Hurricane Hunter, which will be the longest drop slide in the sea.
The ship features a two-storey beachfront kitchen, 15 restaurants, a park resembling Central Park in New York, a water dome atop the ship with ocean views, and a waterfall for guests to dine during the day before transforming into an interactive water theater with live performances at night.
There are 28 room types on board, designed with families in mind, and rooms for three, four, or five people, with options such as Family Infinite Balcony and Surfside Family Suite. There will also be a three-storey Ultimate Family Townhouse complete with its white fence and mailbox.
Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, said: “Icon of the Seas is the culmination of our next bold commitment to delivering more than 50 years of unforgettable experiences and vacationers. Now more than ever, families and friends prioritize experiences where they can bond and enjoy their adventures. We set out to create a no-compromise vacation for thrill seekers, tranquility seekers, and everyone in between, that makes it all possible in one place.”
