The tanker named Peria, while traveling from Russia to Izmir, had to anchor at Keçilik Bay, near the Bosphorus Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge. The ship’s anchor damaged the cables in the K.1 region of the KAFOS Submarine Fiber Optic Cable System passing through the seabed , and the ship’s chain was cut to prevent further damage.
Later, while the Italian-flagged painting repair ship named Antonio Meucci arrived in the area and started the repair , the cut chain was also brought to the surface.
As a result of the work carried out by Black Sea Diving, Peria’s 80-meter chain and anchor were removed from 57 meters. The anchor, which was taken to Ahırkapı Anchorage Area by boat, was reattached to the ship.
