The Gabon-flagged MORAZ, which ran aground in the storm in March and was floated last month, is being towed to Aliağa.
The 125 meters long, 20 meters wide, and 9,444 DWT ship, which will be floated to İzmir, will be dismantled in Aliağa. The Gabon-flagged MORAZ was dragged after the ropes connected to the pier broke due to the storm in March and was floated by Deniz Teknolojisi Ltd. Şti. in 45 days after she took water from the engine room.
She will arrive in Aliağa in 5 days
MORAZ is towed by the 36-meter-long and 9.3-meter-wide tug named AYAZ BEY, built in 1982, with a 295 gross tonnage. While 2 officers accompany the floated cargo ship MORAZ to İzmir, 8 people work in the tug that pulls the ship. The cargo ship, which is expected to reach Aliağa after a distance of about 600 nautical miles between İskenderun and Aliağa and a journey that will take 120 hours and 5 days, will be dismantled on Plot 24 of the Aliağa Ship Breaking Zone. It was learned that the cost of towing the ship and taking it to İzmir Aliağa was covered by the company that purchased the ship for dismantling.
