The ferry, which is carrying the 120-person convoy from Marmaris to Rhodes, was kept on the grounds of several conditions of the search and rescue regulation. It was learned that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stepped in due to the incident that caused mobility between Turkey and Greece.
Tourism expeditions continue to the Greek Islands, whose activities have been suspended for a long time due to the pandemic. The Greek Government, which has allowed tours to the islands in the past months, has prepared tourism facilities on many islands.
According to the news of Egedesonsöz, the 120-person daily passenger ferry departing from the Marmaris district of Muğla and going to Rhodes Island was detained. When the ferry was not allowed to return, the crisis broke out. It was learned that the Greek Government revised Turkey’s search and rescue regulation and adjusted it according to the current continental shelf. The Greek side moored the ship to disapprove of this. It was stated that there were Turks on the ship, which also included Israeli and British citizens.
The Ministry is stepped in
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stepped in after the incident was reported to the authorities. Solutions to the incident, which almost caused a diplomatic crisis, began to be sought. It is stated that the Greek authorities made the detention because there was a problem in the boiler room related to the ferry in question.
