The Control Boat-5 (KB-5), which was produced with local means for the use of the Coast Guard Command, started its duty at the maritime border of Turkey – Greece.
The Control Boat-5, which was produced as part of the New Type Control Boat Project at Ares Shipyard in Antalya, was deployed on January 27 at the Coast Guard Enez Patrol Command and entered service.
The 12-meter-long KB-5 can reach a maximum speed of 35 knots. The boat has an economic speed of 24 knots, has radar, an electronic map, a thermal camera, and 2 engines producing 450 horsepower.
Equipped with a Hamilton water jet system and a rescue platform, with a carrying capacity of 3 crew and 14 casualties, the KB-5 has the features to perform duties in difficult sea conditions with an average cruising capacity of 200 nautical miles.
KB-5, which started to serve in Enez, became the fifth boat to be included in the inventory of the Coast Guard Command.
