3 purse seines belonging to a company that came to the town from Trabzon to hunt fish threw nets 14 miles off the Akçakoca district of Düzce. A short time later, the crew drew the net and saw airplane pieces in the net.
In the research, it was learned that the plane was a C-47 type military airplane that was sunk by being disassembled for underwater sports enthusiasts in 2009. The wrecked airplane was brought to Ereğli Bozahane Port, and the pieces on the net were cleaned.
Boat officer Atilla Gümrükçü said that they threw nets for bonito 14 miles off the Akçakoca district, and their nets were tucked into the wreckage of a sunken plane to be used by divers in underwater sports.
