First time a captain was awarded with a plaque
The First Captain of the container ship M/V Mozart, which was hijacked on January 23, 2021, Mustafa Kaya, stated that he was very proud to be rewarded with a plaque for his bravery and expressed his feelings as follows:
“I had one of the best moments of my life. It was an honor for me to learn that a plaque was awarded to a captain for the first time by DNK. It made me proud, especially when they declared that they listened to the VDR recordings of what happened on the bridge at the time of the pirate attack and that they were amazed by the courage and struggle we showed. I received this plaque on behalf of all M/V Mozart staff who were with me and showed the same courage.”
