Defseca, a Bangladesh-based defense and security platform, said, “Bangladesh is in talks with Ares Shipyard from Turkey for 9 Patrol Ships based on modified design according to Coast Guard requirements. He brought up the issue: “One ship will be built in Turkey and the rest will be built in Bangladesh.”
It is stated that the said naval platform is a configuration developed over ARES 150. The ARES 150 platform has already been exported to Qatar.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard, a law enforcement agency under Bangladesh’s Ministry of Interior, is tasked with controlling piracy and illegal trade. In addition, it is to protect fisheries, oil, gas, forest resources, and the environment in Bangladesh waters and coastal areas, maintain order in seaports and perform rescue operations in coastal areas during natural disasters.
BCGP currently uses 4 offshore patrol ships, 8 coastal patrol ships, 4 fast attack ships, 4 patrol ships, and 5 river patrol ships. Apart from this, BSGK has 6 port patrol boats and 136 high-speed patrol boats.

In this context, ARES 150 was awarded the “World’s Best Offshore Patrol Ship” in 2018 by an independent maritime institution.
The ARES 150 is the largest composite ship in its class ever built. The ship was equipped with 12.7 mm and 30 mm remotely controlled weapon systems. In addition to its armaments, the ship is equipped with electro-optical sensors and extensive navigation equipment.
