The test fire of the ‘National Sea Cannon’, which was produced in cooperation with the public-private sector within the Machinery and Chemical Industry, was carried out successfully.
Akar and the force commanders, participated in the test fire of the 76/62 mm ‘National Sea Cannon’ held at the Karapınar Shooting Range in Konya. Speaking at the ceremony, where President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also sent a video message, Akar said, “None of these efforts are final. Each of these is the start of the next stage. We will meet the needs of our Armed Forces by continuing our work at an increasing pace,”. Noting that on the one hand, the supply and training of personnel, and on the other hand, the production of tools, equipment, weapons and ammunition with domestic and national means are continuing, Akar said, “The rate of locality and nationality has reached 80 percent. We will do whatever is necessary to protect our rights and interests for the sovereignty, independence and security of our 84 million citizens, without giving up on anything.”
‘National production is a necessity’
Reminding that in the past there were weapon systems that could not be bought even though they were paid for, Akar said, “For this, local and national production is not an option for us, it is a necessity.”
