Ships will be insured against the risk of mines in the Black Sea, which came to the fore after the conflict that started with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure General Directorate of Maritime Affairs commissioned the Special Risks Management Center for this.
Operations between Ukraine and Russia also put maritime trade at risk. The continuation of hot conflicts on the one hand and the presence of mines in the region on the other, pose serious risks for ships.
Following the developments, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure General Directorate of Maritime Affairs took action to secure the risks of the ships to ensure their voyages to the region. In this context, all damages that may occur to passengers, crew, and cargo carried on expeditions to this region by civil sea and air vehicles will be covered. Special Risks Management Center was appointed to provide insurance coverage. It was decided that the Special Risks Management Center would continue this task until the end of the year.
