Setur Marinas crowned its environmental awareness by receiving the I-REC International Renewable Energy Certificate, which is given to companies that supply the electricity they consume from renewable sources.
Setur Marinas received the I-REC International Renewable Energy Certificate, developed by the Netherlands-based International REC Standard Foundation, to expand the investment and use of renewable energy among businesses and consumers. The company has achieved this with the renewable energy standard of the electric power generation and distribution company it provides in Antalya, Ayvalık, Finike, Kalamış & Fenerbahçe, Kaş, Kuşadası, Marmaris and Yalova marinas.
Setur Marinas reduced Scope-2/Scope-2 electricity indirect greenhouse gas emissions by 5,970 tons of CO2 equivalent to zero, by purchasing 12,812 MWH green energy in 2021. In the same year, it achieved a 90% greenhouse gas reduction in total scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions from marina operations, compared to 2020. At the same time, it has also been documented that all of the electricity consumed in Antalya, Ayvalık, Finike, Kalamış & Fenerbahçe, Kaş, Kuşadası, Marmaris and Yalova marinas in 2021 is 100% green energy sources with I-REC certification.
Doruk, “We accelerated our renewable solar energy investments and energy efficiency projects”
Emre Doruk, General Manager of Setur Marinas, made a statement regarding the I-REC International Renewable Energy Certificate that Setur Marinas received: “As sailors who love and respect the sea and nature, we have been working for years in many areas, from energy to recycling, so that the marinas we serve are environmentally friendly. We are pleased to receive the I-REC International Renewable Energy Certificate. Obtaining this certificate is also of great importance in documenting the sustainability steps we have taken to protect the environment. In this context, we aim to provide all of the electricity we consume in 2022 from green energy sources, with our efforts to comply with the ‘2050 Carbon Neutral’ target regarding carbon emissions in the Koç Holding Carbon Transformation Program. At the same time, we continue our renewable solar energy investments and energy efficiency projects by accelerating in 2022.”
Setur Marinas also takes the steps of ‘2050 Carbon Neutral’ with the awareness that structural changes are needed to achieve the goal of limiting the global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees in the Paris Agreement. In its carbon-neutral roadmap, it acts under the guidance of the Sustainable Development Goals “Goal 13-Climate Action” and “Goal 7-Accessible and Clean Energy”.
