In Mersin, a penalty of 57 million 40 thousand 917 liras was imposed on 33 ships found to have polluted the sea in the last 35 months, during the air controls.
According to the statement made by the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, with the marine inspection and cleaning work carried out by the Environmental Protection and Control Department, the seas are protected and the damage caused by environmental wastes to sea creatures is minimized.
In addition to three marine inspection boats, a sea sweeper, and a fiber boat, extensive cleaning is carried out by personnel collecting garbage from the sea surface.
In this context, penal action is also applied to ships polluting the sea in inspections carried out with drones at sea.
In the inspections carried out by the teams from the air since April 2019, 33 ships were fined 57 million 40 thousand 917 liras.
