Türk P&I Claims Director, Lawyer Dr. Sinem Oğiş, was awarded the “10 Outstanding Women in Maritime Transportation” award, where women professionals who have achieved international success in the maritime sector in Norway are selected.
Oğiş was selected as the globally successful woman in the maritime industry and was deemed worthy of an award by the Nor-Shipping management and YoungShip Oslo, formed by young Norwegian seafaring professionals.
The award is organized by YoungShip Oslo and Nor-Shipping to identify talented female professionals in the maritime industry and to encourage graduates and young people to join the maritime field.
Sinem Oğiş graduated from Yaşar University Faculty of Law in 2013 as the third. She received the Best Student Award at Yaşar University in 2013 and won the European Union Jean Monnet Scholarship she. She completed her MA in Law of the Sea from the University of Southampton in 2014. Between 2015-2018, she worked as a research assistant at the University of Augsburg and wrote her doctoral thesis on English insurance law. Sinem Oğiş worked as a visiting researcher at Dubai University for one month in 2019 and Gakushuin University in Japan for two months in 2020. Sinem Oğiş speaks Turkish, English, and Italian. Oğiş joined Türk P&I Sigorta in September 2021 as the Head of the Claims Department.
