It will be connected to Mersin, Trieste, East Adriatic, Germany with Ekol Intermodal connection, with flights to be organized 3 days a week.
In this context, the Cappadocia Seaways Ro-Ro ferry and Ekol logistics train, which made their first voyage to the HHLA PLT Italy terminal, were welcomed by DFDS company representatives, Eastern Adriatic port authorities in Trieste, and HHLA PLT Italy terminal officials. And a steady intermodal service was opened, connecting Trieste to Karlsruhe, Germany. Meanwhile, there will be 12 trains a week to the terminal with the Ekol Intermodal service.
HHLA PLT Italy CEO Antonio Barbara said at the ceremony, “DFDS preferred us for its regular service between Mersin and Trieste. At the same time, Ekol Logistics preferred our terminal for a regular rail connection between Trieste and Karlsruhe. Trieste will be the main hub connecting the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East, and the Far East to Europe. Thus, HHLA PLT Italy will further strengthen its position as a multi-purpose terminal. DFDS and Ekol intermodal connection will greatly reduce road traffic. We thank our customers for their trust.”
Eşber Horasan, the general manager of Ekol Logistics in Trieste, said, “As Ekol Logistics, we have decided to make 12 trains a week between Trieste-Karlsruhe for our units that go to Hhla Plt with roro ships. We fully believe that this positive development will increase the quality of service.”
