Murat Kaptan, an underwater photographer from İzmir and the captain of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club Underwater Imaging Team, came first in the World ShootOut with the photo he took in Side. The captain said, “I’m happy if I could contribute to the promotion of our country with this photo.”
Murat Kaptan, the captain of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club Underwater Imaging Team, achieved great success. He won first place in the “Best Humoristic” category by making it to the semi-finals in four categories of World ShootOut, one of the most prestigious competitions in the world, with the photo he took in Kaptan Side. The “Best Humoristic Image” award is given to the wittiest, humorous, and thought-provoking photo.
The captain said, “I am proud to announce the name of our country in this competition where thousands of works of top-level competitors from 54 countries competed in the seas of the world. I took this photo at the Arkeopark in Side, Antalya as part of artificial reef projects. I am happy if I could contribute to the promotion of our country with this photo. I believe that I will raise some awareness by explaining the fight for the survival of endangered groupers in our country, in an ironic language”
