It has been claimed that the Turkish ship M/V Ruşen Mete, which has been waiting in the Ukrainian port of Berdyans’k for nearly two years, burned down during the explosion that took place on the Russian military transport ship Orsk.
The 125-meter-long and 19-meter-wide ship was carrying Sierra Leone, built-in 1988.
In the statement published on Turkishstraits’ Instagram account, the general cargo ship MV Ruşen Mete, operated by Royalmar Shipping, sailed from Gemlik to Berdyansk Port in Ukraine with a load of 10 tons of soybeans in July 2020. however, the ship’s 19 crew, consisting of Turks, Azerbaijani Turks, Georgians, Egyptians, and Indians, closed the hatches of the hatch and quit their job on July 5, after 7,500 tons of the cargo had been unloaded, because they had not received a salary for months. The ship had been waiting in a lien at the Berdyansk Port of Ukraine for nearly 2 years.
