Cemre Shipyard focuses on eco-friendly and alternative fuel types lately in line with the green strategy.
This project has secured its significance for Cemre Shipyard which presents proof of its experience with complex and know-how engineering skills. To state that as Cemre Shipyard we have the honor of building this vessel in our yard after a comprehensive competitive bidding round.
147 m vessel has a capacity of 66 freight units, which increases the current capacity by 23 percent. The vessel will have the capacity of carrying 140 people on board. Thanks to the new design, it will be possible to transport lorries on both the upper and lower decks. Moreover, the modular construction of the vessel makes it possible to later adjust the vessel to carry cars as well.
For the development of the new building project, Cemre Shipyard has cooperated with the LMG Marin AS as a design partner. LMG Marin AS is an experienced design company for advanced vessels with high technological and reliable solutions on projects. This is the first shipbuilding project of Cemre Shipyard together with LMG Marin AS.
Thanks to the hybrid diesel/battery electric propulsion, the vessel will have the capability to feature in two different modes as fully electrical relying on plug-in battery power at 10 knots or plug-in hybrid mode at 16 knots. The design is also prepared for future upgrades to methanol ICE solution.
LR classed vessel is the largest of its kind with approximately 10 MWh battery capacity. The Safe Return to Port compliance is another point making this project quite valuable. With a crossing time of one hour, the ferry is emission-free. It can also be operated as a hybrid ferry like the current passenger ferries on the Scandlines route between Puttgarden in Germany and Rødby in Denmark. As a hybrid ferry, the crossing time is 45 minutes. Thus, the ferry can also be used as a backup ferry if one of the four double-ended ferries that are currently operating the Puttgarden-Rødby route, is in the yard.
