Images emerged after the ship MV Banglar Shamriddhi, which was stranded in a port in Ukraine, was hit by a missile.
Hasidur Rahman, the third engineer of the ship belonging to the Maritime Company (BSC), died in the incident. It was learned that the sailor who lost his life was saving money to build a house for his family.
The ship had docked in the Ukrainian port of Olvia before the Russian attack. There were 29 Bangladeshi sailors on board.
BSC director-general, Commodore Sumon Mahmud Sabbir, announced that an artillery shell had hit the ship. The ship departed from Turkey’s Ereğli port on 21 February and arrived at the Ukrainian port on February 22.
