In İzmir’s Çeşme district, a drill was held against possible terrorist attacks against ports by the Provincial Police Department, Provincial Gendarmerie Command, and Coast Guard Command.
In the drill held at Ulusoy Çeşme International Port under the name of “Terrorist infiltrating the port and capturing the ship”, according to the scenario, 3 terrorists cut the perimeter wire between the ferry port and the parking lot and infiltrated the port and the ship Ulusoy-14 anchored there.
The terrorists, who took the crew hostage, placed explosives on the ship.
With the captain’s secret alarm, the teams took action and started the operation.
In the operation, the Special Operations police neutralized the terrorists in the port.
The gendarmerie team, which landed on the ship with the Coast Guard helicopter, neutralized the terrorists here and rescued the captain.
Bomb disposal experts detonated the bombs placed around the ship by terrorists with a detonator.
The exercise was completed with the detention of the neutralized terrorists by the police teams.
The drill, hosted by Ulusoy Denizcilik General Manager Engineer Mesut Cesur, was followed by İzmir Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger, İzmir Provincial Police Chief Mehmet Şahne, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General Hüseyin Hilmi Atabay, Coast Guard Aegean Sea Region Commander Rear Admiral Serkan Tezel, and other officials. Many institutions also supported the exercise.
