The keel laying ceremony of Scandlines was held, which is the world’s largest zero-emission ferry and is under construction at Cemre Shipyard.
The load-carrying capacity will increase!
Thanks to the new construction project, Scandlines will increase her load-carrying capacity by 23 percent, which is 147 meters long with a carrying capacity of 140 passengers and 66 trucks. With the developed design, trucks can be transported on both upper and lower decks. In addition, the modular structure of the vessel will be suitable for carrying passenger vehicles.
She will be the largest battery-capacity vessel of her kind
The ship, which will be built according to Lloyd’s Register class rules, will carry the title of the ship with the largest battery capacity of her kind, with a battery capacity of approximately 10 MWh. The fact that she was built by the Safe Return to Port rules puts the project one step ahead as another important factor during the development of this project.
She will work with a zero-carbon footprint.
The ferry will operate with zero carbon footprint, with a transit time of one hour and ten minutes. She can also be operated as a hybrid ferry, like the existing passenger ferries on the Scandlines route between Puttgarden in Germany and Rødby in Denmark.
