The “Mentoring Project” initiated by DFDS Mediterranean Business Unit in cooperation with WiLAT (Women in Logistics and Transport) Türkiye, the women’s wing of UK-based CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport), opens new doors for young people.
Within the scope of the project, university students, guided by the mentoring team consisting of volunteer DFDS employees, started to work in the logistics sector.
Young university students, who were included in the Mentoring Project implemented at the end of last year with the cooperation of DFDS Mediterranean Business Unit and WiLAT Türkiye, had the opportunity to work one-on-one with the mentoring team consisting of volunteer DFDS employees for 6 months.
It started with 10 students
New job opportunities began to emerge for 5 students from Altınbaş University and 5 students from Istanbul Okan University, who are in the status of mentee, and who received training from mentors, within the scope of the project. 5 of the students included in the project started their internship program in different departments within DFDS and took their first steps into business life.
The project, which has been successfully carried out, will create new job opportunities for young people who receive training in International Logistics Management, International Logistics and Transportation and Business Administration, and will expand its scope by including new universities in the project in the coming days.
Commenting on the project, Fuat Pamukçu, Vice President of Sales, Marketing, Business Development, and Strategy, DFDS Mediterranean Business Unit, said: “As DFDS Mediterranean Business Unit, we are very happy to implement the ‘Mentoring Project’ in line with our cooperation with WiLAT Türkiye, the women’s wing of CILT, which has a high level of prestige in the international arena. The fact that the project has already yielded successful results and created new opportunities for young people encouraged us to expand the boundaries of the project.” Pamukçu also expressed his happiness for sharing his experiences with female students, who are the future of the sector, and for the project to reach its goal.
