Tamer Kıran, Chairman of the Chamber of Shipping, attended the session on “Effects of the Climate Crisis on Maritime,” held within the scope of the “ECO CLIMATE Summit and Fair” in Ankara.
Tamer Kıran, Chairman of the Board of Directors of IMEAK Chamber of Shipping, to combat climate change and minimize the impact of climate change on the economy, With the support of IMEAK Chamber of Shipping, he attended the opening ceremony of the “EKO KLIM Economy and Climate Change Summit and Fair”, which started yesterday (Wednesday, March 30, 2022) at the ATO Congresium.

Tamer Kıran noted that the maritime industry is responsible for 2.5% of the global greenhouse gases, with the release of 940 million tons of CO2 per year in the world, and that maritime transportation is the most environmentally friendly transportation model compared to other transportation methods in terms of CO2 emissions per cargo tonnage.
Tamer Kıran stated that efforts are being carried out globally to further reduce emissions and pollutants originating from the maritime sector in line with the determined targets, and noted that the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the European Union took important decisions that closely concern the international maritime sector within the scope of these studies.
Providing information about the decisions in question, Tamer Kıran drew attention to the importance of being prepared for regulations that will significantly affect the Turkish maritime merchant fleet, shipbuilding industry, and ports in the coming period.
