The scrap-laden ship, whose machinery broke down, began to drift in the Bosphorus. Coastal Safety tugs intercepted the 100-meter-long cargo ship Abalone, which was going to Kocaeli from Romania, and anchored it off Büyükdere.
In the statement made by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, it was stated that “The 100-meter-long cargo ship named Abalone, which had a machinery failure while cruising from Romania to Kocaeli, was anchored in the Büyükdere anchorage area under the coordination of our Vessel Traffic Services Center, accompanied by our harbor pilot and the Rescue-10 tug.”
