Turkish Energy company Karpowership energy ships continue to meet the energy needs of African countries to an increasing extent by eliminating their competitors one by one for many years.
Karpowership, which produces electricity from floating power plants in different parts of the world, especially in Cuba and Brazil in Africa, will establish a 200 Megawatt floating power plant in Matadi, a port town of the Democratic Republic of Congo if the negotiations are completed.
Karpowership Business Development Manager Zitouni Zyed Akram announced that Congo Electricity Sector Regulatory Authority (ARE) gave a positive opinion to them.
Zitouni Zyed Akram said, “On October 14, 2022, ARE gave us a positive opinion on our concession request for our 200-megawatt floating power plant in Matadi.”
ARE experts carefully reviewed the company’s file containing the commercial, financial and technical details of the project submitted by the company before approving the concession.
Karpowership’s African adventure started in 2014 with a 450 MW energy agreement signed with Ghana for 10 years. In 2019, another agreement was signed for the Sekondi military port in the country, and with these agreements, 26 percent of the country’s energy needs were met. Then the company signed a joint agreement with Zambia and Mozambique in November 2015.
Karpowership, which has the world’s largest fleet of power ships, designed and built the Powership project, the world’s first floating power plant. Powership is a floating power plant installed on a platform or ship, capable of operating with LNG, natural gas, and fuel oil.
