As every year, ITU has achieved great success this year as well and became the first university in Türkiye in the “World’s Most Influential Scientists List”.
With 51 academicians, including Prof. Dr. Metin Celik and Associate Dr. Emre Akyüz from ITU Maritime Faculty, it ranked first among the universities that entered the list from Türkiye. Elsevier and Stanford University’s annual list of the world’s most influential scientists has been announced. With 59 academicians in the “career-long impact” category and 51 academics in the “annual impact” category, ITU ranked first among the universities from Türkiye that entered the list.
The latest list of the world’s most influential scientists, made annually by scientists from Elsevier and Stanford University, was recently published by Elsevier, a Netherlands-based publishing company specializing in scientific, technical, and medical content. The ranking was listed in two categories as “career-long impact” and “annual impact”. In the creation of the list, international criteria such as the number of qualified publications, the effect of the journal in which the publications are included, the number of patents, the number of attributions, the h-index, the hm-index, the number of articles, the number of cited articles and the effect of the journal in which they were published were used.
In the list, which was ordered according to detailed criteria, a total of 200 thousand 409 scientists were evaluated in the “annual impact” category. While a total of 1,202 scientists from Türkiye were included in the list of the world’s most influential scientists, 59 academics from ITU were included in the career-long impact category and 51 in the annual impact category. ITU recorded a significant increase in the number of scientists included in the list in Türkiye compared to the previous year and ranked first.
In the list of the world’s most influential scientists according to the field ranking from ITU, there were 4 academics in the top 100, 17 in the top 500, and 28 in the top 1000.
In the “career-long impact” category, where the career analysis is made and the most influential scientists are ranked according to the attribution effect of the last five years of publications, 59 scientists from ITU were included in the list among a total of 195 thousand 605 people.
In this category, in which a total of 897 scientists from Türkiye are ranked according to the attribution effect of their publications for the last five years, ITU also came first in Türkiye with the number of 59 scientists included in the list. In the category of “career-long impact”, 3 scientists in the top 100, 5 in the top 200, 13 in the top 500, and 31 in the top 1000 took place according to their field rankings.
