Cem Seven, President of Ship, Yacht and Services Exporters’ Association, was re-elected unanimously at the general assembly meeting he entered with a single list. Association President Seven said, “Despite the global problems experienced, our sector’s exports have managed to increase their exports by 64 percent in the past 4 years.”
The ship, Yacht, and Services Exporters’ Association (GYHİB), which is among the Istanbul Exporters’ Associations and exported 1 billion 626 million dollars in 2021, held its ordinary general assembly meeting. While the exporters approved the board of directors’ work report, financial report, and supervisory board reports for 2021, they also determined the roadmap for 2022. In the general assembly, the chairman of the board of directors, the permanent and substitute members of the management, supervisory board, and members to represent the union at the TIM General Assembly were elected. The union decided to continue with the current chairman, Cem Seven. In the elections, in which Seven entered with a single list, the number of female members to serve in the management and supervisory boards became 2.
Cem Seven, Chairman of the Ship, Yacht, and Services Exporters’ Association, who made the opening speech of the general assembly, stated that GYHİB was established in 2010 with the initiative of 76 member companies as the only exporter association operating on behalf of the ship and yacht building industry. “As of today, we are walking on this road that started with 76 member companies in 2010, with 1350 member companies that have become members of our association and exported the products included in our sector’s field of activity. Our Association is an organization that takes its exports one step further every year, breaks new export records, and proudly represents our industry both at home and abroad.”
Stating that the sector’s exports, which were 990 million dollars in 2018, increased to 1 billion 42 million dollars in 2019 and 1 billion 375 million dollars at the end of 2020, Seven said, “In 2021, the current highest annual export amount of our union history increased to 1 billion 626 million dollars. Despite the global problems experienced, our sector’s exports have managed to increase their exports by 64 percent in the past 4 years.”
Seven, Chairman of the Association, stated that Turkey is a rising star in the ship and yacht building market, with the developing sub-industry companies that export the most fishing vessels in the world, tugs, yachts, and ferries and again in many different product groups. Seven concluded his words as follows: “Today, our export kg price for newly built special-purpose ships is pushing 20 dollars, while our mega-yacht exports are over 50 dollars. The companies registered in our association have not only succeeded in carrying the export kg unit price much higher than the country average of $1.29 but also have created high added value.”
Cem Seven stated that they promoted Turkey’s ship and yacht industry abroad with the “The Art on Water” digital promotion project, which they created by bringing together the traditional art of marbling and technology, “The Art On Water project, which we started this year and where we tell the world about our capabilities in the Ship and Yacht Building sector by determining the traditional Turkish art of marbling, which is performed on water, as the language of expression, reaches foreign buyers in the digital environment as well as our fair organizations. Our project, which is still in its infancy and we have produced the first outputs, has already succeeded in creating an international awareness. Again, with your support, we do not doubt that our project will penetrate a much wider sphere of influence in the future and will explain our industry in the best way possible.”
Then, Seven talked about the activities of the union in the country and abroad during his tenure.
