Tersan Shipyard continues to reflect its reliability, quality, and solution-oriented approach to Havila ships. Tersan Shipyard has delivered Havila Castor, the 2nd ship in a series of four cruise ships built for the Norwegian company Havila Kystruten. While the flagship Havila Capella, which was awarded the “Next Generation Ship” award, bears Tersan Shipyard’s name on the Norwegian coast, Havila Castor will accompany her to share this pride soon.
A Proud Day for Tersan Shipyard
In his speech at the delivery ceremony of Havila Castor, Tersan Shipyard’s General Manager Mehmet Gazioğlu said, “As Tersan Shipyard, we are proud to deliver Havila Castor, the 2nd ship of the series, which represents our reliability, quality, and solution-oriented approach to Havila Kystruten. While Havila Capella continues to carry Tersan Shipyard’s name on the Norwegian coast, this pride will be doubled with Havila Castor. Thanks to the trust of our esteemed partner Havila in Tersan, we will work hard to show the same superior performance in the construction of the 3rd and 4th ships, Havila Polaris and Havila Pollux.”
Havila Voyages’ Chairman and major shareholder, Per Sævik, also took part in the official takeover of Tersan Shipyard and said, “Being a part of the delivery of new ships is always extra special. Havila Castor is a wonderful sight that we look forward to seeing on the Norwegian coast.”
Next Generation Ship
Havila Capella, the first ship of the series, was awarded the “new generation ship” award, which was previously named “ship of the year” by the Nor-shipping authorities. Receiving the most important award in the industry, Havila Capella stood out among three strong candidates. Tersan Shipyard continues to reflect its reliability, quality, and solution-oriented approach to Havila ships, as the manufacturer of two ships that embody important developments and innovations in energy efficiency, technology use, safety & security, and environmental sustainability.
Four hours of the zero-emission cruise with the biggest battery packs ever
Having the same features as her sister ship Havila Capella, the LNG and battery-powered Havila Castor was built with high energy efficiency and low emissions requirements. Equipped with a battery capacity of 6100 kWh, the ship still maintains the title of “the ship with the largest battery capacity in the World”. Thanks to her innovative power generation system and energy-efficient body design, Havila Castor can travel for four hours with zero emissions. The ship is charged from clean hydroelectric power stations at the quay.
Havila Castor, designed by HAV Ship Design and built under DNV supervision, provides a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions and a 90% reduction in NOx emissions. In addition, the ship, which has heat recovery systems from the sea and cooling water, stands out with her environmentally friendly energy solutions.
Voyageable Hotel: High Internal Standards
Offering accommodation areas with high interior standards and decorated with design approaches reflecting Norway, Havila Castor will offer her passengers the best comfort on the historical route of Bergen – Kirkenes. There are restaurants, cafes, indoor and outdoor bars, and hotel room in different options on the ship. There is a cruise lounge on the upper deck for viewing the natural beauties along the fjords and the aurora, as well as a conference room, gym, a shopping mall, and a jacuzzi area on the upper deck for passengers to enjoy all day long on board.
Specializing in the construction of open sea, fishing, and other ship types with the latest technological equipment for international customers, especially from Northern Europe, Tersan shipyard has significant experience in the production of LNG and battery-powered ships and niche ships of various types and sizes with high added value.
