Ares Shipyard will manufacture TYPE 55 SAT Fast Patrol and Special Operations Boats for the Iraqi Navy. This marks Türkiye’s first export to the Iraqi Navy.
Antalya-based Ares Shipyard realized the first export of the Turkish defense industry to the Iraqi Navy. Type 55 SAT Fast Patrol and Special Operations Boats produced by Ares Shipyard will be put into service of the Iraqi Navy. In this context, the laying ceremony of the first boat was held today.
According to the news in SavunmaSanayiST, Fast Patrol and Special Operations Boats will be produced in cooperation with Ares Shipyard, South Korean ENM KOREA, and Iraqi PRO DGS companies. Thus, Ares Shipyard became the first Turkish company to export to the Iraqi Navy, following the Oman Navy.
The products of Ares Shipyard, which has become a world-famous brand in the field of Fast Patrol and Special Operations Boats, were also preferred by the General Directorate of Security, Coast Guard Command, TRNC Coast Guard, Qatar Coast Guard, and Oman Coast Guard.
TYPE 55 SAT Fast Patrol and Special Operations Boats
TYPE 55 SAT Patrol and Special Operations Boats are designed and manufactured for a rapid attack, surveillance, and patrol missions. The boat is equipped with an auto-stabilized remote-controlled naval weapon system to provide versatile firepower adaptable to a wide range of potential scenarios.
The boat is equipped with a range of marine communications equipment, electro-optical (E/O) sensors, and X-Band Marine Radar. In addition, the boat is equipped with 2 manual 12.7mm anti-aircraft guns. Ares Shipyard also carries out various revisions in the design of the products it develops within the scope of the needs of its end users.
