This increase, which was above the global average in the first six months in Türkiye, in this period when the demand for ports decreased globally, points to acceptable and stable growth for our country in all aspects, according to the global economic situation.
The highest increase came from Aliağa and Tekirdağ
When considered based on port authorities, the top 10 port authorities that handle the most cargo account for 84% of the total tonnage handled with 230 million tons. According to the news of Barış Sedef on Dünya, in Q2 among the top 10 port authorities, it was determined that the load decreased in Ceyhan BOTAŞ -0.3 percent, Mersin -2.0 percent, Ambarlı -0.4 percent and Samsun -3.5 percent. There was an increase in all other port authorities.
Among the port directorates, which are in the top 10 and increased in Q1, the increase in freight rates especially in Aliağa and Tekirdağ port directorates is remarkable. Because these ports showed very stable and high-value increases of 21.5 percent and 27.3 percent, respectively. The increase in cargo in Kocaeli port authority, where the highest amount of cargo is handled, was at a low rate compared to other high-tonnage port authorities, namely 3.7 percent on average.
LNG handling carried Aliağa to the second place
With the effect of increasing LNG handling, Aliağa Port Authority became the second largest port authority after Kocaeli Port Authority in terms of tonnage handled. The increase in Tekirdağ Port Authority is due to the increase in container traffic at Asyaport, which is located in this region and is predominantly transit handling.
While the increase in Tekirdağ port authority among the port authorities with a high rate of development is due to the increase in transit containers at Asyaport located in the region, the increase in Aliağa is due to the intense increase in imports, especially in liquefied gases and liquid chemical cargoes.
Similar import density was 50 percent in Kocaeli ports, the share of imports in İskenderun ports was 57 percent.
