Captain Selçuk Elibol, a graduate of ITU Maritime Faculty Deck 2007, passed away when the ship he was working on was moored at the port in China, falling from the cross he had descended to read the draft.
According to the information obtained by the HaberDenizde.com, Selçuk Elibol, who served as the captain of the ship Matilda Oldendorff belonging to the Oldendorf company, approached the Tianjin Port of China to make unloading and loading. Captain Selçuk Elibol had to use the cross to measure the draft, after the port authorities did not allow the crew to land on the pier, using the covid-19 as an excuse. Meanwhile, Captain Elibol lost his balance, fell onto the concrete floor of the dock, and passed away.
According to the crew’s claim, the Chinese authorities still did not allow the landing of his friends who wanted to help, despite the fall of Captain Elibol.
It has been reported that while covid measures are applied very harshly in some ports in China, it is reported that they are almost not implemented in some ports.
